About SN 4 Real
As a beginner with Service Now it is sometimes hard to know where to begin. There are a lot of online resources available, but some of them provide outdated or even plain wrong information. Also, the documentation of the platform is often sparse, lacks examples and typically does not inform about potential pitfalls and caveats.
This is particularly true for the community (which I think is very important and a great place to share information). In my personal perception, there are not enough official Moderators around to flag outdated or wrong information. (Maybe a system similar to Stackoverflow would make sense?)
Another interesting topic are undocumented Features.
This blog tries to bring interesting information to all people that build stuff on the Service Now platform.
Who am I?
My Name is Daniel Oderbolz, I have a quite broad background.I worked as a Database Consultant for many different companies, and in this capacity also tried to find out what's possible with an RDBMS (and what not) and let people know about it (for example as a trainer).
Then I studied Environmental Engineering in Berlin and while doing so, ran the IT Department of Ecologic, an Environmental Policy Consultancy. Moving back to Switzerland, I did my Phd (Thesis Three-dimensional modelling of aerosols in the european domain: Biogenic emissions and source apportionment with focus on Switzerland) at the Paul Scherrer Institut. Later I joined their IT Department, first as a Document Management Expert, then as Manager of the User Support and finally as Lead Application Manager Service Now.
Since December 2017, I work for the Swiss ICT Provider Swisscom in the Enterprise Customers Division where I am operationally respsonsible for the Incident Management Process and work as a Servie Now engineer.
